On November 12th, Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”) and his delegation were invited to Southwest University of Political Science and Law (“SWUPL”), where they had a discussion with Li Yan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SWUPL, Yang Jianxue, Dean of the Institute of Arbitration Studies (School of Arbitration) , Yan Yi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Civil and Commercial Law School, and Zhang Zhen, Director of the Scientific Research Department, and other key leaders.
During the symposium , the two sides reviewed the long history of cooperation, shared their experiences and practices in international arbitration practice and theoretical research, and carried out in-depth exchanges around the implementation of the construction of the new western land and sea corridors. Furthermore, they agreed to jointly carry out the training of talents in international commercial legal services and academic research, and reached a broad consensus on the promotion of the integration of industry, education and research and the improvement of the ecological chain of talent cultivation. The two sides also jointly expressed that they would continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, sharing platform resources, and providing intellectual support for Chongqing in building an important strategic pivot for the development of western China in the new era and for building a comprehensive inland opening hub.

During their stay in Chongqing, Secretary General Wang Chengjie and his delegation also visited and conducted research at export-oriented enterprises and law firms in Chongqing, in the objective of gaining a deeper understanding of the development of international market business of “going out” enterprises and the current situation of international commercial dispute resolution. Yang Ming, Deputy Secretary General of CIETAC Southwest Sub-commission, accompanied the delegation to participate in the above activities.
